Props"N"Rotors is a veteran owned company and was founded in 2026 by James Johnson. James is an Instrument rated Commercial helicopter pilot and holds an A&P certificate w/ IA. He is also an experienced Helicopter CFII and enjoys teaching people to fly.
My Story
My passion for aviation began at 18 after I watched a film about a military medevac unit. Inspired to help people in need, I set a goal of flying EMS helicopters. Although life’s priorities have postponed that dream, it remains important to me. In 2004 I joined the U.S. Air Force to help finance my desire to fly. During my 13 years of service I began flight lessons in 2010 and earned my flight instructor certificate in 2012. To broaden my skills and stand out as an instructor, I earned an Airframe and Powerplant mechanic certificate in 2016. I then went to work for Northern Skies Aviation in Laurel MT, where I maintained fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters while also providing flight instruction. I later continued in both roles at Ridgeline Aviation in Billings.
The aviation community has a growing need for mobile mechanics. Aircraft owners often struggle to find certified mechanics and hangar space for their aircraft while inspections or repairs are completed. Servicing aircraft at their own location addresses both challenges, which is why I started this business.
In the Air Force, we lived by three core values: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do. I continue to follow those principles and believe that any job worth doing is worth doing right. In aviation, quality and precision are essential when your most valuable cargo is onboard.
